Model Generation

Virtual Platforms are Only as Good as the Models they Contain

IP Models form the foundation of any virtual platform. If your IP Models do not accurately represent, the function or performance of the actual IP, the accuracy of the entire platform suffers. In addition, if an IP model is not available, you will only be able represent a subset of your system, if you can even represent it at all.

Creating models for virtual platforms typically involves hand writing the models based on a spec, another engineer's description, or even reverse-engineering the implementation. This methodology of hand-writing models consumes valueable time and engineering resources, and is certain to result in models that differ from the actual IP. Carbon Design Systems can shorten the model creation time and increase the accuracy of your IP models. Carbon's solutions generate models directly from the IP's RTL implementation ensuring rapid development and 100% implementation accuracy.

Rapid Development of IP Models

In a modern SoC, as much as 80% of the design is existing IP, either re-used from previous projects or provided by a third party. Carbon Model Studio enables the user to leverage this IP, in all of its configurations, to jump start the creation of complete, accurate virtual platforms.

  • Automatically compile RTL into high-speed software models
  • Straightforward GUI manages model creation and validation
  • Easy configuration management for model variants

Platform Integratons

It is important to be able to use your hardware models in your choice of system environment. Carbon Model Studio was architected from the ground up to support any system simulation platform. Only Carbon provides technology which leverages your model investment across all commercially available virtual platforms. Carbon Model Studio provides direct integration into any system environment including:

  • Carbon SoC Designer Plus
  • CoWare Platform Architect
  • OSCI SystemC
